MNTC’S YOUNGEST TEAM MEMBER

In January of 2020 a youngster named John-Lee, accompanied by his mom Melodie, began to frequent our practices on the track in Thomas Jefferson Park. He’s a charming, inquisitive lad and pretty soon he was running warm-down laps with some of our runners, helping me with my stopwatch, and endearing himself to the team. We were always happy to have John-Lee join us so we added him to the club roster, making him our youngest member. Not long after, Covid shut down New York and in mid-spring Melodie, John-Lee, and his dad Hans made a long-planned move out of the city. We haven’t seen Melodie and John-Lee since March of 2020, but we keep in touch and we’re glad to know J-L hasn’t lost his passion for running. In a couple of years he’ll be eligible for age-group meets so, you never know, maybe one day he’ll burn up the track in an MNTC uniform!
